You Can Go Back To Education…Or Not

When people think about starting their career over, their first thought is often that they are going to need to go back to education to learn something new. While this is true in some cases, and it can be massively beneficial to go back to education, it is by no means a must. Unless you need to complete a specific education, there is no wiggle room like if you decide that you want to become a doctor or a lawyer or something.

A lot of the time though, for jobs that don’t require very specific knowledge or knowledge you can learn on the job, you don’t need to go back if you do not want to. You will have probably learned a lot of transferable skills over your working life, and it’s important that you know what they are for the sake of job interviews. They can be the thing that encourages people to hire you, even if you don’t have the formal qualification they sometimes require.

If You’ve Got A Business Idea

If you have a business idea, then there’s no reason that you cannot start your own business, as long as you know how to do all of the other parts too. We know that this sounds scary and that it’s a big task to take on, but that doesn’t mean that you should not do it. In fact, we actively encourage you to look at all the steps involved in creating a business so that you can start planning it out in your head.

The more that you know about this process, the easier you should find it. That’s not to say that it’s not going to be a challenge because it is, but at least you will end up with a business of your own.

Remote Work Is The Future

There is another thing you might want to do, work from home. As it was proven five years ago, many people and companies are able to work quite effectively from the comfort of their own home. If you have the knowledge, know how, and tech in order to do so. If you have never worked from home before and simply don’t know where to start then take a look at something like digital nomad bootcamp. These courses can teach you everything you need to know about working from home or anywhere you want in the world.

There are plenty of companies that offer remote working experiences if this suits your lifestyle a little better than heading into the office for the usual nine to five.

Work On Pushing Your Current Career Forward

Lastly, nobody wants to be stuck in a dead end job. If you feel this is you right now then you need to try and push forward with your current career. You chose this career for a reason and that reason is typically because it is something you love to do. That, or it pays well. If you are stuck in the same place you were five years ago then you most likely are wanting to climb a little bit higher up the ranks.

In order to do this you need to be firm about your wants. If your boss hasn’t given you opportunities for progression then don’t be afraid to ask. If you don’t ask, you don’t get and your boss might not even be aware of your choice to climb higher. It might be that you need to gain more experience or take on more courses, if this is the case then your current employment can put you forward for these opportunities.

We hope you found this article helpful and it gave you some ideas on how to progress up the career ladder. Remember, you don’t have to be stuck, you just have to be bold.
