RockFish Wellies

Brace yourself I grew up on a farm in Australia, running after all sorts of animals. Oddly enough, as long as I can remember, I’ve never owned a pair of wellies. So when Rockfish tweeted an image. It occurred to me how vast wellies fashion has come. Over the course of the last two years I can’t believe how a pair of rubber boots has taken the high streets of Europe by the masses. I figured it’s something to do with musical festivals around Europe, with Glastonburry always turning into a mud fest. So what do you wear to one of these events where fashion and cameras are your new best friend. Well thanks to Kate Moss who came out with some wellies and jean shorts one year, it got everyone following a hunter, rubber boot trend.

So much so it does not come as a surprise that Rockfish is a very rapidly growing brand in Asia (2nd to Hunter) and now launching in to USA and Italy.

Rubber Boots High Street or For Hunting

I vaguely remember last year London had a running of the wellie boots. Because it just continually rained. So when I came into London I could not believe what I was seeing. In fact I wish I had taken some photo shots, wellies had taken over the high street in droves. There were wellies in all sorts of colours with all sorts of accessories attached to them. Then I happened to be in Denmark and I could not believe it, you guessed it rubber had become the new Burberry trend. This time I saw the most girly wellies. Ones with ribbons, studs and everything bling.

I am not a trend follower so I just made a choice right there and then. I am not getting involved. I grew up on a farm and for me that’s where the boots belong. But I have to confess when I saw these rubber boots with ribbons and studs in Denmark, I went into a melt down. The wellie effect was gripping me, luring me into a trend that I too could not resist. I have to say I kept on laughing how such a material as rubber could have so much power. I saw a very famous male opera singer wearing them on stage whilst rehearsing for the Queens Jubilee.

Rockfish – My First Ever Wellies

When you’ve got Kim Winser OBE investing in rubber boots then you know the trend is here to stay. She is well known for her development, investing in strong British fashion brands such as Pringle, Aquascutum and Agent Provocateur. Winser constantly searches out and investigates young British brands with global potential, Rockfish is one such Brand.

How To Rock In Your Wellies?

Thanks very much to Rockfish I own a pair of aubergine wellies. Wait to you see what I am going to wear with my first ever wellies. Remember Gracie is never in vogue. She is way ahead of it.

After great thought these boots never were for me. So off to a journey they go to Link To Hope Shoe Box Appeal.
