In Greek mythology, the Sirens were femmes fatales who lured sailors off course with their enchanting, alluring voices with the goal of causing the sailors to shipwreck on their island.
In old Hollywood, the definition of a siren wasn’t all that much different. A siren from the Hollywood of the past was a beautiful and alluring woman who was comfortable in her sexuality and had the figure to back it up. A siren was more than just a beautiful movie star though – Hollywood had thousands of those – a siren had a certain naughty quality that made young and old men alike blush. She was sexy and she knew it and so did everyone else. Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, Rita Hayworth, Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot were all sirens. Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Doris Day were not.

Dramatic Make-up
Whether you accentuate your eyes or your lips, choose a feature and go over the top with it. Bright red lipstick plus extra glossy gloss. The same with the eyes. Do a smokey eye or the cat-eye. One word of caution though, don’t do both the lips and the eyes choose only one feature to highlight.
Flirty Hair
Keeping your hair loose is best. Long side-swept bangs that you can look up through like Veronica Lake, bouncy curly tresses like Marilyn Monroe or a messy chignon like Brigitte Bardot will all work. Just don’t do anything too prim and proper. Ideally, hair with a tousled just out of bed look is just right.
Fashions
Body-conscious designs are an obvious choice, but so is the boyfriend tee or over-sized button-up shirt with jeans and boots. Curve-hugging designs are super sexy if you’ve got the curves. But, don’t worry though if you don’t – you can always use foundation garments to help you where Mother Nature didn’t. If you decide to show some skin, choose to show off your décolletage (cleavage) or your legs, but not both. Blake Lively (from Gossip Girl), who has a gorgeous figure, often forgets this. Like a siren, one wants to be alluring, but not cheap–there is a subtle, yet important difference.
