It’s that time of year where all the brides to be are out in force choosing their last minute touches for the most important day of their life. If you want to know, in a recent survey conducted by The Knot, it was revealed that the average wedding is now about $31,213 (£20,500). Now in the summer months I will be all over the world and it will be very hot. I have a few weddings to attend along the way. So what happens if you choose to have your wedding outside? What is deemed appropriate for eye-wear etiquette?
I’m from down under and there is nothing worse when it is so bright you can’t even see daylight. These days the eyewear trends are so well thought about. The vintage frames seem to dominate this year. They are a timeless classic and for this season, for me, it’s clear. Wear your shades that match your outfit, go vintage all the way.
When To Wear Your Shades
Consider what a pair of sunglasses is meant to do for you. They are designed to shield your eyes from the violent radiation of the sun and make it more comfortable for you to see.
In a social gathering or setting, people will presumably strike up conversations with others they find interesting. It can be difficult to approach a new person and say hello when that person is wearing dark reflecting sunglasses. They may find themselves sitting alone watching everyone else mingle. For this circumstance, consider a shade of lens that protects your eyes and still allows your features to be seen. This will help you seem more approachable and less intimidating.
When you greet your guests, just put them on your head out of manners and respect. As a bride it’s a tricky one but I would wear them for some cool shots only. But throughout the day, keep your eyes wide open and let them be seen. Let’s face it, let your make-up do the talking here. We want to see your eyes not your specs.
Just About To Say I Do
For me when you are about to tie the knot, yes the big emotional moment of the whole day, I would suggest you take off your eyewear, and that includes guests. So what eyewear is well suited for a wedding day? Here are my top choices.
Isabel Marant For Olivers People
Ms Dior
For me this season Dior have nailed it when it comes to that fine balance of summer class and practicality. Chromatic is Dior and is perfect for a girl who likes to add a subtle flash of colour to her outfit. Extase is Dior in ivory and could see a slightly older but effortless chic woman in this family of the bride. i.e an aunt perhaps.
Fendi Vinatge
Fendi once again has come up with a super chic collection that is well suited for a wedding attire let alone driving the latest Mustang. Fendi for a bit of fun. Go for the sandwich frame for the woman who wants everyone to notice her for the right reason and secretly does not give a flying fashion, and probably will be having it off with the best man after the reception.
Caviar Frames
I have to say I was sent some of these, and I instantly thought they were the perfect eyewear for any bride let alone her bridesmaids. Anything bling is certainly a bride’s thing.
Miu Miu Sparkle
These are certainly the perfect wedding statement on a hot summers day. Make sure your hair is high and full of volume.
Jimmy Choo Don’t Forget The Shoes
Jimmy Choo Cindy is ivory gold mirror flash perfect for mother of a bride model. I think it would be good for most skin tones and also ages as it is very subtle.
