Hey guys, I’m super excited to be a guest on this blog after so many years of absorbing all the wonderful content Gracie has graciously put out for us, her die-hard fans. This month across the major cities is fashion week again and the designers are all in full marketing swing promoting sustainable fashion.
How can you play that part regarding making tough choices for our planet?
My name is Uchenna Bede and I’m a Blogger/Copywriter for Fashion, and I have channelled all my creative outlets into creating such content. I’m currently working on a new special blog (thekeenartofseduction), you can check that out too
I have honestly never heard of sustainable fashion, but Gracie challenged me to go find out, and I’m so happy I did, so please read on.
Sustainable Fashion
This term sounds straight forward really, but it’s really more complicated. It doesn’t have to do with being that most talked about Fashionista in your class or workplace.
It doesn’t have to do with being so fashionable that you neglect the fundamentals of clothing itself; fun fact—as a copywriter, I know that’s the game top fashion brands play.
Sustainable fashion isn’t just an ideology, it’s a culture which all who care for the environment are called to live by; some even call it slow fashion or eco-friendly fashion.
Gracie has worked with since 2016 luxury knitwear designer. Mihaela Markovic these individual pieces are long-lasting, timeless and niche.
Slow Fashion
As opposed to fast fashion that is based on trends and total exploitation of every possible resource from Humans to Human wallets, as well as mother nature’s gifts to us—Slow fashion is fashion that explores the true meaning of clothing, style, and clothing with style.
I discovered slow fashion 24 hrs. Ago and I’m already an enthusiast, and I hope you become one too; because the benefits are endless. First, you can have that inner peace you deserve and you can proceed from there.
The most fascinating thing about this term (SLOW FASHION) is the hidden message; which is I have a choice and I can make a choice. It’s not just amazing, it’s beautiful.
You have a choice and you should make a choice; don’t let brands tell you to want you “need” every time—-it’s exhausting you and your wallet 🙂
Sustainable Fashion
You might be thinking I probably don’t want you dressing your best, or I’m an enemy of Look-Good fashion. Well, that’s not true because I follow many fashion blogs myself in order to keep up with what’s hip and what’s not anymore.
Sustainable fashion has to do with expressing your individual personality to the max. There’s really no use in getting the latest Gucci sweater every week.
The fashion industry took out your will to look how you like when you like, and that’s partly what the fight is about. The moment you curb your impulses of buying, the environment would be so much brighter.
The culture is “Steer your taste toward Luxurious minimalism”—-meaning look your best, and spare the earth.
How Can I Be That Person
BE CONSCIOUS: If you’ve read this far, you must already be aware and that’s the first step to a conscious mind. You know what sustainable fashion is, and you know what it’s doing to you and our mother nature. è There is an estimated 350,000 tons of clothing ending up in landfills every year in the UK alone, and that’s not good.
So the first step is soaking up all these drastic effects and allowing yourself to be moved to taking action.
MAKE A DECISION: It has often been said that the most difficult part is starting. Once you’ve gained consciousness, you definitely want to start. Here is the good part; I really don’t think deciding on this matter would be difficult in any regard, because the fast-fashion industry is feeding on you. Do you want to be eaten? 🙁
ACT: It’s really as straight forward as it looks. You have the power to do whatever you want, so don’t be the only thing standing in your way. The grass is much greener on the other side.
Conclusion
You’re all beautiful people, so don’t wait for the next Gucci collection to fit in. This bag designer Gracie is wearing is vegan and the person who assembles also works for the Gucci brand.
Thank you, Gracie, for this marvellous opportunity, as a blogger/ Copywriter for fashion I look up to you, so keep up the good work 🙂 all of us your fans love you.
