I am Italian and grew up admiring luxury Italian brands such as Prada, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. These luxury brands were owned by Italians and at the time represented the true message of everything Made In Italy. Sadly this is no longer the case. These fast fashion brands now target a market for Chinese buyers and the quality and manufacturing has devalued both in the brand and in quality.
Why Is Prada Milano stating they are Italian when their clothes and fabrics are actually made in China?
Should they be legally allowed to market themselves as everything Made In Italy? This is the last Prada item I bought. The aftercare attitude and service from this brand is why I don’t buy Prada.
Italian Artisans
I work with wonderful Italian artisans in the last year. They are so faithful and honourable to everything Made In Italy. These Italian artists are competing against the luxury brands that were Italian but sold their souls to China. Prada Milano, don’t care about everything Made In Italy. Have a look at this video proving my point.
It is now inTJ Maxx, a famous fashion platform. TJ Maxx is an American department store chain, selling at prices generally lower than other major similar stores. It has more than 1,000 stores in the United States, making it one of the largest clothing retailers in the country. This skirt made in China is still unsold at 250euro here in Den Haag, Holland. It felt horrible and the quality was like ZARA.
I feel sick to the core that Prada Milano can state it is everything Italian in its marketing but in fact, the fabric and manufacturing happen in China. They are not against the law in doing this.
Did you know that Chinese people are working in Italy in their own manufacturing camps. It is why Italy got Covid first.
Made In Italy Has Been Devalued
The first significant wave of Chinese immigrants arrived in the industrial zone around Prato, a city fifteen miles northwest of Florence, in the nineteen-nineties. Nearly all of them came from Wenzhou, a port city south of Shanghai. For the Chinese, the culture shock was more modest than one might have expected.
“The Italians were friendly,” one early arrival remembered. “Like the Chinese, they called one another Uncle. They liked family.”
In Tuscany, business life revolved around small, interconnected firms, just as it did in Wenzhou, a city so resolutely entrepreneurial that it had resisted Mao’s collectivization campaign.
Many companies are using inexpensive immigrant labor to manufacture handbags that bear the coveted “Made in Italy” label. They after 60% of the work is completed it gets sent to China. But the Italian government passed this law that it is ok to do so.
Resulting from that luxury brands like Gucci and Prada are actually not all made in Italy. Is not the point buying into these historical luxury brands about knowing that the brand belongs to Italy 100%. clearly thanks to Prada working with China it is no longer true.
What Is 100% Authentic Made In Italy Mean in 2021?
You Can Read About Handbag brands I Work With In Italy. All these handbags are made in Tuscany and are true and authentic Made In Italy.
Why Prada Needs To Ditch Chinese Cotton?
Have you ever heard of Uyghurs? There are about 12 million Uyghurs, mostly Muslim, living in Xinjiang, which is officially known as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR).
China has been accused of committing crimes against humanity and possibly genocide against the Uyghur population and other mostly-Muslim ethnic groups in the north-western region of Xinjiang.
Human rights groups believe China has detained more than one million Uyghurs against their will over the past few years in a large network of what the state calls “re-education camps”, and sentenced hundreds of thousands to prison terms.
When You Buy Prada You Buy Into Genocide?
Re-Education camps also mean forcing them to pick Chinese cotton for luxury brands like Prada Milano. They are treated like animals heading for the fashion slaughter.
It comes down to you as a buyer to do your research and understand that what hangs in your wardrobe. Is a brand that has blood on their hands.
Prada Is Not Made In Italy
Prada and Gucci are no longer 100% Made In Italy. Most of the work is sourced in China. Can this pandemic bring the authentic Italian brand back to Italy? The labour is cheap now, the workers are plenty here in Italy.
Many young Italians are leaving Italy due to a lack of hope and jobs. During Covid 19, I know will continue to do so.
I love wearing brands that are truly made in Tuscany, Venice and Italy.
This green blanket was Made In Tuscany by an artisan.
