Scottish couturier Sandra Murray MBE has created a series of stunning designs for acclaimed Scottish Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis. Her red carpet appearances at the World Premiere of Disney•Pixar’s film ‘Brave’ in Los Angeles clearly represented Sandra Murray’s collections.
What did she wear on the red carpet?
Julie wore a Sandra Murray sleeveless frockcoat in Loch Ness tartan by Lochcarron of Scotland. It is worn over a matching tulle underskirt. The wool tartan is predominantly teal and airforce blue with navy and red overchecks. The yoke layers French guipure lace over metallic silver and is hand-embellished with French lace. It has an appliqued necklace of silk chiffon wrapped pearls. To complete her look, fingerless gloves by Maison Fabre, Paris are worn under her Guipure long cuffs. Sandals are by Terri de Havilland.
Murray’s creations will feature Dunbroch tartan (specially created for the film), printed georgette, Loch Ness tartan, Holyrood tartan and stunning gold lace over St Andrews blue silk, beautifully capturing the romance and mystery of Scottish Highland landscape.
Sandra Murray commented
“The garments were created in close collaboration with Julie, who loves beautiful fabrics but whose preference is for understatement. This has been an incredible project to work on – I’ve always been inspired by the Scottish Highland landscape and my designs embody that.”
