In a recent encounter with lawyers, both men and women, it came as no surprise that the current dress code colour is still BLACK. I asked myself, what is the dress code for lawyers for 2015? Do these powerful intellects need enlightening and encouraging? Yes they do.
Over the last year I have been watching two TV series called House of Cards and The Good Wife. In each of these series, the two women are wives to male politicians, in the good. The pressure that these two are under is immense. The real challenge for these two is how should they be behaving as wives in business? It’s where tradition and the modern day business woman conflicts of interest, rears its ugly head. When it comes to women dressing in powerful positions, there is still that conflict of what is deemed dress appropriate or damn right too revealing?

What Is A Lawyer?
The Wikipedia definition is as follows. A lawyer is a person who practices law, as an attorney, counsellor or solicitor. Law is the system of rules of conduct established by the sovereign government of a society to correct wrongs, maintain the stability of political and social authority, and deliver justice. Working as a lawyer involves the practical application of abstract legal theories and knowledge to solve specific individualized problems, or to advance the interests of those who hire lawyers to perform legal services.
The role of the lawyer varies significantly across legal jurisdictions, and so it can be treated here in only the most general terms.
Black For Lawyers
The dress code for lawyers still seems to be the black suit. Why is this so? Is it because black is an easy colour to mix and match? Is it because black is slimming? Or is it because if you are to be taken seriously enough, then you have to stick to what has been the trend for many years now. Who could influence and challenge the lawyer dress code?

What on earth is this woman up against in the reality of everyday life? Lets face it, did we ever think any woman could pin George down? What a perfect example to show the world, it took a lawyer to pin him down. Amal is the perfect woman who visually demonstrates that she has the discipline, brains and looks. She is the whole package, the modern 2015 lawyer style icon.
No Hollywood script could have seen this coming. The admirable part of this modern day fairy-tale is Amal’s natural sense of beauty and style. Her dress code is dictated by her own rules. She is that has set the bar within the court room. When it comes to power we can only assume who wears the trousers in this relationship. Well done Mr Clooney.the woman
Can TV Influence Your Dress Code
Now if there are two women out there setting the trend for woman in powerful positions, then it’s Julianna Margulies who plays in the Good Wife and Robin Wright who plays in House of Cards. Could both these TV programs influence a lawyer to separate from the normal business attire? Could a colourful outfit result in you being excluded from the pack? For me the power house colour for any combat situation is red, the pencil skirt and tailored suit attire is elegant, feminine, sexy and one that I would recommend any lawyer who wants to take a risk.
Fashion Icons – The Power Ladies
In fashion it would be fair to say that both Anna Wintour and Victoria Beckham certainly show us how when it comes to business attire. The Victoria Beckham collections certainly could belong in any court room. Let’s face it, Victoria’s attitude alone could stand the heat amongst any court room. As for Anna we all know what she wears. Who would challenge this lady? The law of fashion is there for the taking ladies. Don’t forget style icons and epic actress Kate Blanchet who empowers the suit. What are you waiting for ladies?
