One of the most popular vintage looks is the 50s rockabilly style which is an awesome look for both men and women. For this article, I am going to focus on female rockabilly style and how you can get the look easily with effort.
Denim Jeans
For the daytime, the best thing that any rockabilly girl could wear would be a pair of high-waisted jeans with a tapered leg or cropped trousers.
The Shirt
The white shirt or any colour shirt (tied in the middle)or twin-set is that classic iconic rockabilly look. Go in your partner’s wardrobe and scout for unworn dress shirts.
The Leopard Shirt
I would wear with a plaid blouse or leopard print vest. Don’t forget to rock your look in a vintage car.
Flat Pumps
Flat pumps or brothel creepers are ideal during the day. For the evening try a swing dress or wiggle dress with wedge heels and bags of attitude.
Hair
Any rockabilly knows that strong colour is essential jet black, white blonde, cherry red and electric blue works perfectly for this style.
During the day wear your hair in a quiff or have your fringe (bangs) cut into a Bettie Page U shape and wear in a high ponytail.
During the evening poof it up into a beehive and add a red flower for more drama!
Makeup
To go with the strong hair colour, strong makeup is also necessary if you want to create the perfect rockabilly look. Red lipstick is essential and yes it does suit everybody regardless of skin tone – play around with different shades to find your perfect tone.
Pencil in your eyebrows and make sure you have a slick of black liquid eyeliner to finish the look and draw attention to your eyes.
Head Scarves
They are a must and it comes down to your personal taste on colour and print. make sure you master the art of bowties. Lots of courses on social media for this.
Tattoos
Tattoos are optional. It really comes down to personal taste and your image.
